We have created this exciting new post of General Manager at MHS and we would love to hear from you if you feel you would be suitable for this position.
The post holder will have responsibility for all aspects of facilities management. This includes, but not exclusively, management of budgets, staff, health and safety policies, all policy management, communications with a range of users and others within the community, administration, project development and management.
General Manager will be responsible to the Directors for the day to day running of the organisation.

Responsible to:Directors of MHS Heritage and Culture Ltd
Line Management Responsibility:2 x Full-Time staff
1 x Part-Time staff, Up to 70 volunteers
Salary:ยฃ25k-ยฃ35k depending on experience,+ Employerโ€™s pension
Contract:1 year fixed-term (a review carried out after 6 months employment. Further extension anticipated, subject to confirmation of funding)

Purpose of the post
The Work Manager,

Will advance our aims of: promoting community development and good relations in the area, supporting the mental, social and physical well-being of the community-particularly the older members โ€“ advancing education and the development of skills and promoting the heritage and culture of the area while respecting all backgrounds, traditions and customs.

Overall Responsibility
To oversee the running of the organisation in an economical and efficient way.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
โ€ข To develop and manage fundraising activities and to ensure that there is always on stream cash raising activities. Ensure sufficient cash flow to meet all the organisations expenditures.
โ€ข To bring to board meetings ideas to allow these developments to take place.
โ€ข To attend meetings on behalf of the organisation, either virtually or through physical attendance.
โ€ข To address the development of social integration through various activities and events offered within the centre.
โ€ข To update, revise and implement the following policies ie. Health and Safety, Equality, Child and Adult Safeguarding Policies, Staff Training Procedures and our ongoing financial policies.
โ€ข To ensure that a safe working environment is in place at all times and that the building is secure. Delegation of this task may be to a responsible person.
โ€ข To liaise with the Development Director and other Directors and Staff regarding financial planning and budgeting, reporting, monitoring of cash flow etc.
โ€ข Develop new ways to present the centre to maximise Visitorsโ€™/Tourists enjoyment and understanding.
โ€ข To keep abreast of what suitable grants are available to our organisation and liaise with the funding bodies. Keep up to date with the various funding streams
โ€ข To work closely and communicate with our local council MUDC and ensure that the Heritage Centre staff are kept up to date with any developments.
โ€ข Design and analyse visitor feedback surveys.
โ€ข To manage staff and team performance and provide regular support and supervision, including training and development.
โ€ข Manage budgets and help out with strategic planning.
โ€ข Deal with enquiries from researchers and the public.
โ€ข Develop outreach activities in the local community.
โ€ข Use IT to generate market share, raise visitor numbers, etc
โ€ข Be familiar with the organisations complaints procedure and responsibilities of the General Manager.

Essential CriteriaDesirable Criteria
Qualificationsโ€ข A higher-level qualification relevant to the post (General marketing procedures)
โ€ข A minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ management experience in a community development or education and training setting.
Professional qualifications/postgrad diploma in any below:
โ€ข Heritage Management
โ€ข Project Management
โ€ข Marketing or Business Studies
Key Skillsโ€ข Staff management and team development
โ€ข Demonstrated training and the development skills to bring about change.
โ€ข Administrative and budgeting skills
โ€ข Group facilitation, networking and relationship building skills.
โ€ข Ability to analyse and present information to support problem solving and decision making.
โ€ข Organised, efficient and good verbal and written communication skills
โ€ข Must be familiar with web design and building and be competent in developing IT and computer training.
โ€ข Excellent project management skills

Management experience and digital marketing)
Technical Skillsโ€ข Digital Media and IT skills. Must be competent and efficient and familiar with all digital media marketing platforms.
โ€ข A good sufficient knowledge of these outlets to enable promotion and learning knowledge.
โ€ข Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office applications (especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
โ€ข Plus the ability to impart this knowledge onto others.
Otherโ€ข The ability to deliver a PowerPoint presentation on a topic of your choice.

โ€ข Be familiar with and have an understanding of the organisations aims and objectives, their purposes and outcomes.

โ€ข Flexible approach, as weekend and evening work may be required.
